A slow walk toward Christmas

Christmas season snowstorm – final December on our farm.
First hour of the storm: freezing rain and snow weigh down the red cedar tress in our shelter belt.
Karst topography limestone shelf along our driveway provides shelter for raccoon family.
Ugly brush-tangled ravine made beautiful by December snowfall.
North sheep pasture has a different appearance covered with six inches of snow.
Good to return home after a winter wonderland walk, but…
…a couple hours of shoveling snow will be required before breakfast.

    Nice photos, Jerry. Looks like you’re having a similar winter to ours in the Pacific NW. More snow! Nice place you have.

      Thanks, Charlie. After 36 years we have sold our farm and will be moving to a midsize city in the spring. We will miss these beautiful winters, but we are at that time of life when we need to begin a new lifestyle and adventures.

        I understand. Sorry you had to do that. Even taking care of our half acre is too hard, to steep. Right now we are snowed in. May be able to drive out tomorrow or maybe not. Last winter we were stuck 8 days. Luckily we can walk a mile with a minimum of danger to a little store. But there’s no way we’re moving into a city of any size. Was too hard to get out of one to willingly go back to another. 🙂
